Did Pizza Hut blow the CIA’s cover in Lebanon?

You know the old saying: don’t hold top secret meetings at an American chain restaurant (selling processed, low-grade poison in the form of pizza) and not expect to get caught.

ABC news reported on Monday that more than a dozen spies working for the CIA in Iran and Lebanon have been caught in what amounts to a significant failure for US intelligence in the Middle East.

It also reported that according to US officials, the CIA used the codeword “PIZZA” when discussing where to meet with the informants.

Other former officials said CIA case officers met several Lebanese informants at a local Pizza Hut branch, which helped Hezbollah identify the spies helping the CIA.

US officials deny any allegations that their agents were compromised at Pizza Hut.

In other news, the US Congress decided last week that pizza is a vegetable.

It all makes a horrible kind of sense now.
