There’s nothing called marital rape in Lebanon

“There’s nothing called rape between a husband and a wife. It’s called forcing someone violently to have intercourse,” Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya MP Imad Hout told The Daily Star in an interview this week.

Hout made the statement to justify why he and other members of a subcommittee debating legislation on domestic violence voted to remove a provision that would have criminalized marital rape in Lebanon.

And with that, a new Tumblr was born.

There’s nothing called Imad Hout is devoted to exposing the absurd semantics used to justify Lebanon’s absurd politics.

My favorite euphemism? We live in a democracy.
