Some disturbing photos have emerged following a deadly shootout in the Karakas district of Beirut which ended early Thursday morning when Lebanese security forces stormed the apartment building where a gunman was holed up inside.
The gunman was killed and the body of another man was found inside the flat, a security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
The army and police were first called to the scene late Wednesday after reports of gunfire. The man reportedly lobbed grenades and began shooting at the security forces from the balcony of his flat.
At least six police and army troops were wounded.

The spark for the incident appears to have been a personal dispute between at least one of the men and a woman in her early twenties.
Both the gunman and the woman, who was detained during the incident, are Syrian nationals, the official said.
