When most non-profit organizations ask for donations like towels, soap, pasta, rice and other non-perishable items, it’s usually an effort to help the homeless or perhaps victims of a recent crisis.
But the Anti-Racism movement in Lebanon is calling on the community to donate these and other supplies to prisoners, people supposedly under the watch and care of the state. That’s just how bad the situation is for migrant women currently behind bars in Ebbe prison near Tripoli.
Put aside the fact that many of these women have been unfairly imprisoned and held without trial for long periods of time. The priority, organizers say, is to get these prisoners access to basic human needs.
Peeps, let’s do our part and help out.
